Sorry may be the hardest word but sometimes Elton John just had to say it… A pal of Sir Elton has told how the superstar broke wind on tape while recording his classic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.

Guitarist Davey Johnstone said in Sir Elton’s wilder days he let rip in the studio in Jamaica in 1973. And Johnstone reckons the embarrassing moment and a compilation of other hilarious out-takes could be released.

Johnstone, 69, said: “I heard an out-take the other day and there is a recording of before we started Funeral For A Friend in the studio. "It was incredibly tense and quiet and we were all really dialled into this moment. “I can hear Elton’s counting ‘One, two, three...’ and right before he hit ‘four’ all you hear is brrrp. "
