Elon Musk has deleted an X post in which he claimed that “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” contending that his message was a joke and taken out of context.
His post was just the latest in a long line of X messages seemingly designed to draw attention and outrage — while major advertisers shun the site.
Musk’s post on Sunday was in the wake of the potential assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump. After one user asked, “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?,” Musk responded, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.” Musk’s post quickly drew condemnation and questioning of how he could remain a government contractor and make such a comment.
Some called on the Secret Service to investigate. Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican congressman who has endorsed Harris, wrote, “A reminder that Elon Musk is a government contractor for DOD and US Govt and has said things that would have gotten anyone kicked out of the military.
