While promoting his new movie Close to You at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, the 36-year-old Oscar-nominated actor – who came out as transgender in 2020 – was asked if he thinks the Oscars should make acting categories gender neutral. Keep reading to find out more… “Yeah, it seems like a good idea,” Elliot told Entertainment Weekly. “And, again, this sort of unusual aspect of that being the only category, right, where that sort of happens?” “So, hopefully, we start moving beyond that degree of binary thinking,” Elliot added.
