Ellesmere Port murder probe launched after man stabbed 'several times' on street

A murder investigation was underway today after the death of a man police said was stabbed 'several times' on a residential street.

The man, who hasn't been named, is said to have been 'assaulted by three unknown men'. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene after reports came in, but found him with stab injuries.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital, but sadly died from his injuries later. No arrests have been made as yet, said Cheshire Police as the force confirmed a murder probe has been launched and issued a major appeal for information. The force said: "Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Ellesmere Port. At around 8.20pm on Wednesday 1 May, police were called to reports that a man had been assaulted by three unknown men on Summertrees Road Ellesmere Port. "Officers attended the scene and found that the man had been stabbed several times.
