Edwin van der Sar proposes new Champions League format that would impact Manchester United

Van der Sar, who spent six years at Old Trafford between 2005 and 2011, is reportedly one of the main men behind the plan that is set to be implemented from the 2024/25 season onwards.

Currently, the Champions League is made up of 32 clubs and each side is required to play six group matches in their quest to make it into the knockout stages of the much-loved competition.
