Edinson Cavani has been told by one of his former teammates that he will need to take a pay cut once he leaves Manchester United this season.

On Thursday, the 35-year-old hinted that he would not have signed a new deal at United had he known Cristiano Ronaldo was joining the club.

He explained that he had discussed the possibility of leaving with his brother. However, following a campaign that has been riddled with injuries, Cavani is now expected to leave Old Trafford once his contract expires in the summer.

Despite reaching the twilight of his career, it is believed that Cavani is favouring a move to another European club rather than rounding off his playing days in his home country.
