Edinburgh Bonfire Night terror LIVE as youths launch fireworks at cops

Edinburgh police have come under fire once more from youths hurling fireworks in the Niddrie area. Officers have closed Niddrie Main Road and asked the public to avoid the area.This follows disorder over the previous two years.

Images show an area burnt out around what appears to be exercise equipment.The area of destruction is just yards from residential flats.

It appears that plastic, furniture and other junk has been set alight and those at the scene have reported a horrible stench and huge clouds of black smoke READ MORE: Footage shows huge Edinburgh blaze as Bonfire Night chaos hits capital The choas seen in Niddrie tonight follows a number of other incidents in the area in recent times.On Halloween, October 31, officers faced attacks from youths armed with fireworks and bricks, resulting in injuries to one female officer during the chaos on Hay Drive.Similar disturbances occurred last year, with the community in lockdown as gangs of youths clashed with riot police and damaged buses.
