Holidaymakers have been spotted queueing outside Edinburgh Airport amid a technical failure at check-in desks. Passengers have been hit with delays as the issue is understood to have hit airlines including British Airways, Jet2 and Logan Air.

Pictures taken on Saturday afternoon show huge queues forming as far as outside the terminal building as customers attempted to check-in for their flights.

Rachel Richardson, 26, from Edinburgh, said the travel ordeal had been a nightmare. Due to travel to Palma at 2.45pm, she arrived at the airport with partner Daniele, at noon.As the BA queue stretched and grew, hundreds of holidaymakers were forced to queue outside as space ran out inside.

By 4.00pm, the couple had finally made it through security and could see their plane but there was no one around to say when they were leaving. She said: "The board says we’re leaving now but we’ve not boarded and there’s no one here to tell us when we are leaving."Queueing travellers had been offered water but nothing else by the airline or airport staff.
