Yesterday (March 1) Ed Sheeran took to Instagram where he discussed his horrific 2022, and how this has inspired some of the music on his upcoming album.
One revelation he shared with his fans was that last year his wife Cherry had been diagnosed with a tumour while pregnant with their second child.
He posted a lengthy caption opening up about this, and the death of his close friend Jamal Edwards, part of which read: "Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. "My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter.
I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety." Now a source close to Ed has told The Sun that Cherry is recovering well after this horrific time. The insider said: "It’s been an incredibly tough time for Cherry and Ed. "The tumour came as a huge shock, and the fact they couldn’t operate straight away was hugely concerning and scary. “But after Jupiter arrived safely, Cherry has now received the treatment needed and is recovering well. They both hope it will be a much better 2023.” Ed's newest album, which is set to release on Sunday (March 5) is set to be his most personal yet, as he used songwriting as his "therapy" last year following Cherry's health scare and Jamal's death.
