Ed Davey risked his life to save a woman from an oncoming train, he has revealed. The Lib Dem interim leader, who is launching his campaign to keep the top job, won a bravery award from the National Humane Society for the 1994 rescue.
He told the Mirror he had seen a woman fall onto train tracks at Clapham Junction, after an altercation with a male partner.
He said: “Everyone else was going 'oh my God!' and I thought someone had better do something.” Sir Ed was forced to step across electrified lines to get the woman to the opposite platform, after seeing a train heading straight for them.
