An easyJet flight from Stansted to Edinburgh had to be diverted following an emergency alert this evening. The EZY312 from London departed shortly before 5.30pm on Sunday but diverted to Liverpool John Lennon Airport while flying over the Peak District.
The flight had to be diverted after a passenger onboard required "urgent medical assistance". The condition of the passenger is currently unknown.
The flight path shows that the aircraft suddenly turned and flew over Manchester before landing in Liverpool shortly after 6pm.
Flight tracker RadarBox showed an emergency alert was issued before the plane was forced to make the sudden diversion. easyJet's live flight checker online said that a second follow-on flight was organised for passengers to eventually reach Edinburgh and confirmed that the diversion was due to a "passenger incident" on board.
