Easter egg treasure trail set to raise funds for new disabled riding centre

A plan has been hatched to give kids a great Easter Sunday adventure and boost the crowdfunding campaign of Equi-Power, the charity aiming to build a new Riding for the Disabled (RDA) centre in Stirling.Families are being invited to visit Dumyat, the most recognisable peak in the Ochil Hills, on Sunday (April 17) to follow the clues and scramble along the Easter Egg Treasure Trail.

There’s a trail for the little ones at low level and a peak challenge for older participants.Entrants are being asked to give a minimum donation of £5 per child taking part, and every participant is guaranteed an Easter Egg.

The event will run between 10am and 2pm.When it’s over, Equi-Power’s group organiser Amanda Namey will set off on her 100th accent of the 418 metre hill in a matter of a few weeks.She has spent between three and six hours on the hill most days in all weathers - walking well over 250 miles in the process and climbing far in excess of 65,600 feet, the equivalent of twice the height of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain.She hopes she’ll be accompanied by the scores of people who joined her on previous climbs.

They include firefighters, Scouts , vets, students and members of the general public.With this week still to go before her final climb, Amanda has raised nearly £3,000 and hopes to see the total climbing.Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area.Equi-Power needs to raise £140,000 from crowdfunding before they can apply for major grants to build the planned £2-milliion, state of the art centre at Kildean.It will replace the RDA centre in Bannockburn, which was forced to close in 2015 after a bitter dispute with a new landowner.Equi-Power was formed the following year with the dream of providing
