EastEnders star was looking forward to becoming a dad in later life, having already turned 50 when the big moment arrived. Yet, Sid Owen was on tenterhooks after partner Victoria Shores was rushed into an emergency caesarean, after losing two pints of blood.Earlier this month, 42-year-old Victoria gave birth to the pair's much-loved new daughter, Skye.Although she has two children already from a previous relationship, her attempts to conceive with Sid have resulted in tense moments. The pair previously endured the stress and disappointment of a miscarriage, while grieving Victoria then awoke to find blood all over her sheets after becoming pregnant with baby number two.Terrified Victoria, who hadn't been in labour for "over a decade" when she got pregnant again, immediately feared the worst.Sid shared his concern, admitting: "I couldn't cope with losing Vic, I was more concerned about her."I'm still trying to process the trauma of it."With over a month left to go before the new arrival was expected, the pair "knew something wasn't right", so an ambulance was called and she was rushed to hospital. There, the news was broken to the anguished pair that Victoria had a condition known as placenta previa, causing the placenta to cover the cervix and prevent a natural birth. The couple waited with baited breath while nurses monitored Victoria, who usually works as a waitress, for 24 hours. After the time was up, they announced that she needed to undergo an emergency caesarean section.Sid's "relief" at the resolution was tempered with fear about the "very dangerous" procedure. He recalled to The Sun: "We were told she could haemorrhage, lose her womb or worse."Sid grasped his partner's hand and tried to stay "as calm as possible".
