EastEnders' nod to the past in unintentionally historic final scene as soap goes off air

EastEnders aired historic scenes on Tuesday night, for two big reasons. Fans may have noticed a nod or two to the past, regarding a certain script line and a certain family being in charge of The Queen Vic pub.

The BBC soap went off air for the first time in 35 years with fans devastated to wave goodbye for now. EastEnders had to halt filming in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, with cast and crew finally returning to film new scenes later this month.

But the loss of filming has meant the BBC soap has run out of episodes filmed before the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were put in place.
