EastEnders' Natalie Cassidy and Jacqueline Jossa 'so proud' of soap as Lola tragically dies

EastEnders aired some of the saddest scenes in the show's history on Wednesday night, as young Lola Pearce passed away.The young mum-of-one died after her battle with a brain tumour, while her young daughter Lexi lay beside her.

Lola's husband Jay barely left her side, as he struggled with the thought of leaving his new wife, speaking to her about what they would come back as in another life.

As the sun rose, Lola took her last breath, leaving her family heartbroken. With the family saying goodbye, some Walford residents had gathered in the Queen Vic as they reminisced about the good times.

And once the emotional episode had aired, a number of past and present EastEnders cast members paid tribute to the show and Danielle Harold, 31, who played Lola.
