EastEnders legend to star in Charlie Fairhead's final Casualty episode
ok.co.ukEastEnders icon Annette Badland, who fans will remember as Aunt Babe, is set to appear in Casualty for Charlie Fairhead's final episode on Saturday (March 16).
She'll be playing Charge Nurse Shirley in special flashback scenes from the 1980s. Derek Thompson, who has played Charlie for an impressive 38 years, is leaving the BBC medical drama and the flashbacks will show a young Charlie at Shirley's retirement party, nursing a hangover and receiving some crucial advice.
However, a bomb explosion at the hospital tests Charlie and uncovers a secret connection between him and Dr Stevie Nash. In current times, Charlie's life hangs in the balance after he was stabbed by a patient trying to steal Holby General's medical supplies.
And, as he battles for his life, viewers will be transported back to the 1980s through flashbacks featuring Annette, reports the Daily Star.
