Although Max hadn't confirmed his departure, a spokesperson for the show announced it. On Tuesday night, Max broke his silence on social media, saying his time on the show had been "one hell of a ride" and thanking fans for their support.
His next role will be in a theatre production of Birdsong, a story about love and World War I, which starts touring in September at Salisbury Playhouse and ends in late November at Theatre Royal Bath.
Max, who previously starred in the 2016 tour of Birdsong and will be playing Jack Firebrace, expressed his excitement about the project, saying: "I'm so excited to be collaborating with [producers] Original Theatre again on a project close to my heart.
