He was hit over the head with a wrench and left for dead, after he attacked Martin Fowler. Phil believed it was Kat Moon who hit him after her confession, but it was actually her cousin Stacey, Martin's wife.
Stacey, played by actress Lacey Turner, has been on the run ever since after Phil's son Ben kept the evidence to blackmail the couple.
Ben had walked in on Stacey's attack and allowed them to flee, before using it against them. In the latest episode, Stacey's mum Jean Slater confronted Phil and let slip the truth.
