EastEnders fans were not happy on Friday night as Jake Wood bowed out of the BBC soap as Max Branning. The latest episode ended with a tearful Max arriving at the train station alone as he turned his back on Walford and his brother Jack.

It was certainly an emotional last day for Max as he was in tears at the beginning of the episode when Linda Carter told him she doesn't love him.

Despite Max telling her he had got the Queen Vic back for her, Linda still told him to leave Walford. "I don’t even want to see you.

Do me a favour and leave," she shouted at him. "There’s nothing here for you, no future, just go away, find someone who actually does love you because I promise you this, she don’t live here." Max's brother, Jack, told him the same
