EastEnders airs painful exit for Ben Mitchell as Max Bowden quits
ok.co.ukEastEnders aired Ben Mitchell’s final episode on Thursday 28 March - and it was an emotional watch. Ben found himself under arrest after it transpired he had committed fraud in America - which all happened off-screen.
Ben had travelled to the States in 2023 trying to find cancer treatment for Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold) who at the time was dying of a brain tumour.There was no indication Ben had committed any crime before his arrest.The officer who put Ben in cuffs said: "There’s an international warrant out for you.
I’m arresting you for fraud. Allegedly committed on your trip to the United States last year. You do not have to say anything but anything you do say may be given in evidence." In Ben’s final episode, his husband, Callum Highway (Tony Clay), was determined to see him - after originally planning to cut Ben out of his life.
It seemed that their pair were destined to split as Callum finally saw Ben, who then called time on their marriage. Callum left, but then stormed back in refusing to let his husband go.
