Striker Ally Roy says East Kilbride is a fresh start for him and can’t wait to get stuck in to the Lowland League.The 26-year-old, who hit a hat-trick on his debut in Saturday’s 6-1 friendly win at Irvine Meadow, says he just wants to get back to playing football again after a difficult couple of years, and reckons he still has time to play his way back up the leagues.That has to spell good news for Kilby, and Roy hopes he can be a hero to a new set of fans, after signing a one-year deal at the ambitious club.Roy signed a two-year deal at Irish side Glentoran, but headed back to Scotland on a loan deal with Morton last January, only for injury to strike at a time when the Greenock club was gunning for the Premiership play-offs.It then came as little surprise when Roy severed his contract to return to his young family, and when East Kilbride expressed an interest, he jumped at it.He said: “This is a fresh start.

I’m at a point where I just want to enjoy playing football again.“I just want to get back to playing football, enjoying my football again, and this is the perfect place to go and do that.“I just want to get a full season.“Being happy outwith football has a huge impact on things, and that’s probably the main reason I wanted to come back to Scotland.“That will have an impact on the football, because I’ll be happier playing, and that’s what I want to do this season.“I want to enjoy myself, and this is the perfect place to do that, I think.”Roy feels at 26 he can still get back to a high level in the SPFL, but for now wants success with East Kilbride, who kick-off their Lowland League campaign on July 22 at home to Broomhill.He said: “I can easily go back up at any time and I’m not sitting here saying I had this, this
