Eamonn Holmes has issued a scathing response to Phillip Schofield's statement admitting that he had an affair with a young male colleague on This Morning, whilst still married to his estranged wife, Stephanie Lowe.

Eamonn, 63, who has been very vocal about his disdain for Phillip, 61, posted to Twitter as he said that Phillip had "finally been caught out".

A week after stepping down from presenting duties on This Morning "with immediate effect" Phillip made a lengthy statement to MailOnline, in which he admitted to having an "on-off" consensual relationship with a male runner during his time on This Morning, which he said was "not wise but not illegal".

In his statement Phillip said that he met the man in question "when he was a teenager", and wanted help to get onto television.
