Dynamic ticket pricing that left thousands of Oasis fans furious could soon be a thing of the past for gigs

A new law that could guarantee fans the maximum price they’ll be paying when queuing online for concert tickets is to be tabled in Parliament.

The Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) Bill has been put together following the continued fallout from Ticketmaster’s use of ‘dynamic pricing’.

It became prominent when thousands of Oasis fans who queued online for tickets to their reunion tour at the end of August were informed at checkout that tickets they thought were £148 had more than doubled to £355.

The band insisted they had no knowledge the model was being used. Investigations into the model have since been launched by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) following a raft of complaints, the M.E.N.
