The Winter Fuel Payment was previously available to everyone above state pension age, however the new Labour government confirmed last month that it plans to introduce means testing for the payment.
It means that millions of pensioners in England and Wales who had previously received the money will now miss out on the cash.
However, pensioners who receive Pension Credit will still qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment which is worth up to £300 and helps pay heating bills.
