Households in 116 areas of the UK are now eligible for Cold Weather Payments from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
Cold Weather Payments are made to people who are on certain types of benefits, such as Income Support, Pension Credit and Universal Credit.
The extra cash boost of £25 is to help the most vulnerable households keep their homes warm during periods of extreme cold weather.
Since the beginning of January, the UK has seen sub-zero temperatures in all four corners of the UK. For Cold Weather Payments to be triggered, an area must see temperatures that are recorded as, or forecasted to be, OC or below for seven consecutive days.
