Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes the effort Wout Weghorst has put in at Old Trafford is enough to prove he should be signed permanently but admits his lack of goals is an issue.
MEN Sport understands Erik ten Hag will not be pursuing a permanent deal for Weghorst once his loan stint from Burnley ends at the end of the season.
The Reds signed the Dutch striker in January to replace Cristiano Ronaldo who left in November. Since his switch to the Theatre of Dreams, Weghorst has struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis.
The 30-year-old has scored just twice for United and those came in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. "It's simple, Wout Weghorst has not scored enough goals," he said. "In the amount of games he's played, he's backed up why he should stay.
