Dundee 'bitterly disappointed' with VAR errors as club reveal implications of red card and no goal double whammy

Frustrated Dundee chiefs have expressed their “bitter disappointment” that two of the three VAR errors have gone against them and had implications for the club.A VAR Independent Review Panel (IRP) has gone through all 407 VAR calls from the first round of Scottish Premiership fixtures and it has flagged up a trio of glaring mistakes.

They were Josh Mulligan’s red card against Kilmarnock, Amadou Bakayoko’s disallowed goal at Livingston that should have stood, while Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski’s double-hit penalty goal against St Mirren was the other mistake that VAR failed to correct.A Dundee statement read: "The club are glad that the information regarding VAR decisions this season has been released to the public, but the club is bitterly disappointed that two incorrect VAR decisions have gone against us in matches this season, which have had implications for the club."These decisions being Josh Mulligan’s red card against Kilmarnock and Amadou Bakayoko’s goal being disallowed against Livingston."The club were very disappointed that we were unsuccessful with the appeal for the red card shown to Josh Mulligan due to the inadequate information and evidence we were allowed to supply to the judicial panel for the appeal.

This meant that Josh missed two matches due to suspension. The club won’t be making any further comment on VAR at the moment."Mulligan was red carded for a tackle on Danny Armstrong in Dundee’s 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock in September.

Video assistant referee Euan Anderson asked David Munro to review the incident but the official stood by his original call.Unhappy Tony Docherty called out the decision after the game and Dundee appealed the red card but insult was added to injury when they lost the appeal.
