A plea will be made this week for all councillors to unite and demand more support from the Scottish Government to fund police and fire services in Dumfries and Galloway.
Cuts to these emergency services has triggered serious “public concern”, according to Abbey Councillor Ian Blake, who is chairman of the police, fire and rescue sub-committee.
Mr Blake will table a motion at the full council meeting on Thursday concerning the underfunding to blue light services, and will call on the Scottish Government to address the issue swiftly.
The motion has been seconded by his Conservative colleague Graham Bell, who is also a member of the police, fire and rescue sub-committee.
