Stunned council leader Elaine Murray and husband Jeff Leaver were verbally abused for telling a family they were at risk of coronavirus by being in a play park.A man and a woman swore at them, called them “paedophiles” and “beasts” and threatened to follow them home.The shocking incident happened at the park on the corner of Dumfries’ Hardthorn Crescent and St Anne’s Road where signs have been placed on lamp posts advising the play park is closed.Dr Murray said: “I had told a couple of girls playing there before that it was a danger to their health and safety and they went off.“But this was a shock and we were quite intimidated by the man who came up to us in a threatening manner, so we reported it to the police.
