A drunk thug kicked a paramedic in the head as he was trying to give his dad medical treatment, a court heard. Thomas Duffy, 23, had been out drinking all day with his father on Saturday, December 21 last year, when they were ejected from a bar in Manchester city centre for being too intoxicated.
His dad then collapsed on Watson Street and Duffy, of Oldham Street, Hyde, dialled 999 to request an ambulance, the Manchester Evening News reported.
Ian Shortman, one of only two cyclist response paramedics that covers the city centre, responded to the scene and began to treat Duffy's father on the ground.
