A boozed-up granddad was caught behind the wheel with his grandson in the car after taking him for a McDonald's breakfast. Officers pulled the man for a breathalyser test at their Xmas drink drive test site in Wythenshawe on Sunday morning (December 22).
He was found to be over the limit, and promptly arrested and charged. In a post on X, they joked that 'the 2024 grandparent of the year award doesn't go to today's chap,' adding the breakfast was a 'lovely gesture', but not when over the limit.
They also shared pictures of officers conducting today's operations to keep drink drivers off the region's roads. The force wrote: "The 2024 grandparent of the year award doesn't go to todays chap.
Taking your grandson for a McDonalds breakfast is usually a lovely gesture, but never a good idea when over the drink drive limit. "Arrested & charged at todays #OpLimit Xmas drink drive check site in Wythenshawe."
