Treacherous driving conditions are set to continue overnight and into the weekend as the severe weather continues. National Highways has warned drivers that conditions “will get worse rather than better” during the next 24 hours as they work to keep the M62 open.
Drivers were stranded for several hours on Thursday night and Friday morning on the M62 due to the snow and ice as Storm Larisa battered parts of the UK.
The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings for snow and ice for large parts of the country. A yellow warning remains in place for Greater Manchester until 6am on Sunday.
