Drivers are queuing up to visit the Peaks - police are telling them to go home

Hordes of people queuing up to visit the Peak District today (Wednesday) are being told by police to go home. The government has ordered a nationwide lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus, with all but 'essential' businesses closed as well as schools, colleges and universities.

Brits are being told to only leave the house to buy food or medicine, exercise once a day or to go to work if 'absolutely necessary'.

The lockdown has coincided with a period of warm, sunny weather and many people are finding it difficult to be cooped up at home for so long.

With restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes all closed, lots of people chose to visit public parks or National Trust sites last weekend.
