Driver on the run after leaving woman seriously injured in horror hit and run

A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a hit and run in Bolton - as police launched an investigation to trace the driver.

Officers were called to the horror smash involving a car and a pedestrian on Jedburgh Avenue in the Heaton area at around 11.45pm on Saturday night (March 4).

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene and a woman, aged 44, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life threatening. No arrests have been in connection with the incident, which is being described by detectives as "isolated." Witnesses described seeing a large emergency response on Saturday night, as police cordoned off the area into the early hours of Sunday morning.
