Driver and his dog rescued from river after trying to drive through water

A driver and his dog had to be pulled from the water after their vehicle became submerged while apparently trying to cross a river.

The red Suzuki became trapped in the depths of the River Almond in Scotland on Saturday afternoon. The driver was forced to get help after the vehicle became stuck with a French bulldog still inside, the Daily Record reports.

Photographs taken from a footpath nearby appear to show the driver behind the wheel of the car, before getting out and wading into the water.

He was spotted desperately trying to attach tow cables to the front of the stricken vehicle so another motorist could pull it free.
