Residents have been evacuated from their homes today after a fire took hold of a flat in Ayr.The blaze ripped through what appears to be the doorway at the back entrance of a block of flats in Argyle Park in the town's Wallacetown area this afternoon.One neighbour has told how more than a dozen residents rushed out of the burning building before firefighters arrived at the scene around 1.50pm.Other flats in the street have been evacuated due to the level of thick smoke in the air.
A video sent into Ayrshire Live by a neighbour shows flames bursting out from either side of the entrance as alarms go off in the background.
