Dragon’s Den star Gavin Duffy is taking on social media giants Facebook in a bid to stop dark ads using his name including some which claim he is dead.
The Irish Sun reports the businessman’s lawyers are set to file proceedings in the High Court shortly. His legal team are ordering the cease and desist of taking advertising revenue that fraudulently uses his profile and are seeking malicious damages.
The former Presidential candidate told the paper he has already spent over €40,000 so far on cyber security consultants and lawyers.
He insisted he had no choice but to take legal action because he feels Facebook was not going to stop this happening otherwise.
