Erik ten Hag says Donny van de Beek will be allowed to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window. Van de Beek, 26, was free to go in the summer but a move never materialised and he was omitted from United's Champions League squad.

The playmaker has played 21 minutes all season and Van de Beek admitted last week he was prepared to depart United in the New Year. “I think Donny has to play," Ten Hag stressed. "In games he was in the squad, so he had the opportunity.

It was a slow start to the season because he was still recovering from physical setbacks. He has lined up only six times for United in the Premier League and joined Everton on loan in January 2022. United will also seek to sell Jadon Sancho next month as his exile from the first team continues.
