Donald Trump‘s speech to a joint session of Congress drew an estimated 36.6 million viewers, down from the president’s first term but beating Joe Biden’s initial address in 2021.
The audience Tuesday was up almost 10 million viewers compared to the 26.9 million who watched Biden’s first speech to a joint session of Congress.
Trump’s first address in 2017 drew 47.7 million. The latest figures are from Nielsen and measured 15 networks. The speech’s peak audience was from 9:45-10 p.m.
ET with almost 38 million viewers, according to Nielsen. The ratings service says 70.7% of the viewers were 55 and older, 20.5% were 35-54, and 5.7% were 18-34.
