Donald Trump‘s on-off bromance with Elon Musk appears to be very much on. The Presidential hopeful has said the Tesla and X owner could lead a “government efficiency commission” should Trump win the election in November.
Speaking the Economic Club in New York yesterday, he said Musk had agreed to oversee a “complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government” and would “recommendations for drastic reforms.” Musk responded on X by writing: “I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises.
No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.” The pair have hinted at a format role for Musk in a future Trump government over recent weeks, and now it appears to be more than speculation.
The spoke about the need for a government efficiency commission in a talk on X in August and Musk has since shared memes alluding to the idea.
