It was third time lucky for the former US President after two failed marriages, to model Ivana and TV star Marla Maples, and it seemed he wanted to celebrate.
He'd already presented Slovenian model Melania Knauss with a 12-carat, emerald-cut Laurence Graff diamond engagement ring said to cost around $1.5 million (£1.1 million) and there was no expense spared for the ceremony.
Rumours put the total cost of the wedding at around $1 million (£734,460) but many estimates suggest it could have been a lot more.
