The Labour candidate bucked the national trend to increase his vote share since 2017 and romp to victory on the first round, increasing his vote share from 63pc to 67pc.
Making his victory speech at Manchester Central Convention Centre, the new mayor's voice cracked as he thanked his family for all their guidance and support.
