Dominic Raab defends Downing Street garden picture saying gathering 'was not against regulations'

Dominic Raab has claimed that a gathering held in the Downing Street garden during the first lockdown was “not against regulations” after a photo emerged of Boris Johnson and his staff enjoying cheese and wine outside.

In the photo, obtained by the Guardian, Mr Johnson and his then-fiancée Carrie, along with 17 other staff members are shown in the garden with bottles of wine and a cheeseboard on a table where the Prime Minister was sat, on May 15 2020.

But the Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary claims that the garden is considered as a “place of work” where staff would sometimes have a drink after work.
