Dolly Parton has spoken out about a dispute she had with Elvis Presley and how her decision meant she "cried all night long".

The 74-year-old country icon has revealed that she turned down the pop legend when he requested the opportunity to record a version of her song I Will Always Love You.

The singer released the original recording in 1974 before it was famously covered by Whitney Houston for the 1992 film The Bodyguard.

Elvis, known to fans as The King, had also wanted to record a version of the ballad but Dolly had to say no due to a dispute over money.
