4 with the equivalent of 72,000 albums sold in the United States, a fairly underwhelming turnout considering there weren’t any no other comparable, major releases on the updated list.
Many anticipated the record would have a fair chance at a higher slot, considering Doja landed prime time during the MTV Video Music Awards and performed for “The Victoria’s Secret World Tour,” but others were quick to point to her album’s rickety rollout: the singer was heavily criticized in the months leading up to “Scarlet’s” release after she downplayed her previous records and took jabs at her fans in since-deleted posts.
Doja has not yet landed a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, though her previous LP “Planet Her” debuted at No. 2 in 2021 with an impressive 109,000 units sold.
