Doja Cat Addresses Criticism Of Oscars Performance: “What I Did Was Brave And Scary”

First and foremost known as a rapper, Doja Cat — along with “Born Again” collaborators Lisa and Raye — took to the Oscars stage last night to perform a medley of songs from the James Bond franchise, in a sizable tribute to 007.

Now, she’s addressing some of the online criticism regarding her performance. In an Instagram post showing off her Balmain looks for the night, the Scarlet musician admitted she was nervous, but that she stood by her “brave” rendition: “I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f— for me,” she said in part. “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself.

The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a bitch hit some flats. I can’t wait to do something like that again.
