Two women were taken to hospital after a dog attack today. A police helicopter was scrambled as part of the response to the incident at Howe Bridge, Atherton, Leigh, by armed officers.
Police closed Leigh Road in the town while they carried out a search of the area and a dog was seized. They had responded to reports of one dog attacking another on playing fields this morning at Jubilee Park.
Ambulance crews were called as the owners of two dogs were injured after they tried to separate them when one attacked another.
One person commented on social media: "There was a female with her hands all bandaged up getting into the ambulance."
