A lucky dog was pulled from the sea by rescuers after excitedly swimming half a mile out chasing a flock of gulls. The exhausted pet spaniel had gone bounding after the birds while on a walk along the beach in Rhyl on Monday morning, before getting carried away.
The dog's owner could only watch as his pet swam further out before he dialled 999 for help at around 9am. He was advised to keep the dog in sight and refrain from attempting any rescue of his own, and within 11 minutes of the call volunteers from Rhyl Coastguard launched a lifeboat, reports NorthWalesLive.
Initial reports said that the dog was off the old Suncentre site to the East of the station at Rhyl, but the owner updated the coastguards saying that the dog was actually off
