Anthony McCorquodale, 27, was spotted by police waiting at a junction of Bury New Road in March this year before immediately making off at speeds of 60 miles per hour.
As he continued he reached speeds of 75 miles per hour and went through a red light, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. A single lane of traffic was waiting at temporary lights, which McCorquodale overtook, causing cars on the opposite side of the road to brake suddenly.
