Disney used its CinemaCon presentation Thursday to show off an extended clip from Lilo & Stitch, the live-action update of its 2002 animated hit.
The studio has been ramping up for its latest toon-to-live-action take ahead of its May 23 worldwide release, showing off a sliver at last summer’s D23 and a branded bit with Stitch during the Super Bowl before a trailer last month created quite the aloha moment, clocking 158 million views in its first 24 hours — the second most-viewed Disney live-action trailer of all time.
Lilo & Stitch tells the touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.
The extended clip shown today to the crowd of exhibitors features Lilo (Maia Kealoha) getting parked at a picnic table at the outdoor restaurant where her mom (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong) has to clock in for work.
